Myrtle Beach Airport Bridge

I’m back on my kick of not being inspired to write much. So I’m going to share a picture a friend of mine sent me this morning that made me laugh.

There has been a huge building project going on to build a new $46 million bridge across the Intercoastal Waterway in Myrtle Beach to make easier access to the airport. I am thrilled to report they opened this bridge about 2 weeks back.

Now mind you a project of this size and magnitude has plenty of checks and double checks to make sure things are done right. So my question is why didn’t they do a spell check on the city name and at least spell Myrtle Beach right?

I hope they put better quality work in the construction of the bridge than they did in the making of the road sign.

Finally a beach day

I live so close to the beach and I’m too lazy to take the 5-10 minutes to drive over there. Well we decided to drive over there yesterday. It was a super hot day for us with temps in the upper 90’s. The water temps were 82 and it was just a wonderful day to wade in the water.

I got a few pictures to share. Things I just take for granted.

The tides were really high yesterday. This generally happens a few times a year and the marsh behind the house looks like a lake. This log has been in the marsh for sometime, it blew down in one of the many hurricanes and just floats around when the water is high. This white egret decided it was a fine place to stand and fish for a while. I got to sit from my bedroom and watch this for a while. I noticed it when I had started packing for my trip this week and just decided it was more important to sit and enjoy the beauty of home for a bit before I left.

Snowy South

This week I’m lucky enough to be working from home office in Myrtle Beach, SC. I have lived in Myrtle Beach a little over 10 years now. As all of you know one of my main reasons for living here is the mild winters. We do have winter every year with temperatures that fall below freezing. Our winter season is generally very short (several weeks at most).

A week ago today they had snow in Myrtle Beach it was the first time in 9 years we have had snow here. The year after I bought my house I woke up to 5 inches of snow and heavy snowfall. It stopped at noon and had melted away by dinner.

I was not home to catch the snowfall this year but Stefan got a few pictures of the house in the snow I’ll share with you. I’m happy to say the freeze was not enough to cause damage to the plants and flowers that were blooming. My Daffodils decided to make an early entrance this year and have been blooming for a few weeks now.

As pretty as it is to see the snow, I'm starting to get the itch for the best season here... Spring!

Let's hope the groundhog agrees to have an early spring next Monday when he peeks his head out.
